Barnowl IDW successfully implemented for Insurers and UMA's

BarnOwl IDW has been successfully implemented for Insurers with UMA's or Brokers with delegated authority and UMA's that have Brokers with delegated authority. BarnOwl IDW has facilitated the transmission, storage and reporting of insurance data.

Our straight forward and proven method of acquiring, validating, processing and verifying insurance data has had major success. The data warehouse leverages off the standard data extracts that have already been created, or are in the process of being created by numerous Insurance Management Systems.

Read below to see how our process works and could benefit you.

This is a broker with delegated authority who captures and maintains policy information and administers the premium collection in their IMS. Some of these polices (or policy items) are underwritten by the UMA, some by other UMA’s, and some directly by insurers.

Step 1 - UMA DW Data Extract

The broker will produce the data warehouse extract from their IMS for all the policy and policy transaction information that relates to the UMA. This data extract is then transmitted to the UMA data warehouse.

Step 6 – Insurer Data Extract

The broker will produce the data warehouse extract from their IMS for all the policy and policy transaction information that relates directly with the Insurer and not through the UMA. This data extract is then transmitted to the Insurer data warehouse.

The UMA administers and pays all claims arising from policies that have been written on their behalf by the broker.

Step 1 - The Broker Data Import

The data extract sent by the broker is automatically imported, validated and processed by the UMA data warehouse.

Step 2 - The Broker Policies in the UMA IMS

It is only necessary for the UMA to create a broker policy in their IMS when there is a claim (so that the claim can be administered in the IMS).

The policy details can be extracted from the UMA data warehouse and manually captured into the IMS or, if the IMS has a policy import process, the policy could be automatically created or updated.

Step 3 - The UMA IMS DW Data Extract

The UMA will produce the data warehouse extract from their IMS for all the policy and policy transaction information that do not relate to the broker plus all the claims and claim transactions. This data extract is then transmitted to the UMA data warehouse where it is automatically imported, validated and processed.

The UMA data warehouse now contains all the UMA policy and claims information.

Step 4 - The Insurer DW Data Extract

The data warehouse extract required by the Insurer will now be produced from the UMA data warehouse and transmitted to the Insurer

Reports and Analytics

The UMA data warehouse can be used to produce reports and analytics for underwriting and claims.

The Insurer requires all information regarding policies that have be written on their behalf by the UMA or a direct Broker and may administer and pay claims arising from these policies if the agreement requires.

Step 5 and Step 6 – The UMA and Broker Data Import

The data extract sent by the UMA or Broker is automatically imported, validated and processed by the Insurer data warehouse.

Step 7 - The UMA and Broker Policies in the Insurer IMS

It is only necessary for the Insurer to create a UMA or Broker policy in their IMS when there is a claim (so that the claim can be administered in the Insurer IMS if required).

The policy details can be extracted from the Insurer data warehouse and manually captured into the IMS or, if the IMS has a policy import process, the policy could be automatically created or updated.

Step 8 - The Insurer IMS DW Data Extract

The Insurer will produce the data warehouse extract from their IMS for all the policy and policy transaction information that do not relate to the UMA or broker plus all the claims and claim transactions. This data extract is then transmitted to the Insurer data warehouse where it is automatically imported, validated and processed.

The Insurer data warehouse now contains all the Insurer policy and claims information from their own IMS and their UMA’s and Brokers.

Reports and Analytics

The Insurer data warehouse can be used to produce reports and analytics for underwriting and claims across all their business partners.
